North Carolina- The talk all around College Football this week was the battle of the unbeaten teams as #3 GT 8-0 (6-0) battled #6 Wake Forest 8-0 (6-0).
There was lots of hype by ESPN and other sports networks over the battle between these two teams. Someone should have called Wake Forest and WOKE them up.
Josh Nesbitt accounted for 5 touchdowns in the game including 3 on the ground as #3 GT destroyed #6 Wake Forest 44-7 last night in front of 45,000 fans.

" I am proud of the entire team and there effort. Our Defense showed up and held Wake Forest to just 7 points" said Coach Millhimes. This was a Wake team who beat Florida St and blew out Clemson.

Georgia Tech outgained Wake 507-135. There most impressive defensive showing of the season. The defensive line was all over Skylar Jones today holding him to just 99 yards passing and a touchdown. Jones was sacked 4 times and threw an interception.

Nesbitt finished the game 21-34 for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns. He finished with 30 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns. " I felt great today and wanted to show everyone that we are the real deal" said Nesbitt

Cox left the game in the second quarter with back problems. He is likely out the next game which is best since they may need him for the game with Notre Dame that will have major National Title implications. Darius Thomas finished the game with 8 catches for 135 yards and 1 TD.

GT exploded in the secopnd quarter for 3 touchdowns after leading 3-0 at the end of one quarter. Nesbitt scored on two run plays and he also hit Thomas for a 7 yard touchdown pass just before the half to make it 24-0 GT.

GT added 2 mote Td's in the third when Nesbitt scored from 5 yards out and backup fullback Allen caught a 1 yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 37-0 after three.

The Fourth quarter was mop up work for the bench and Shaw manged to throw a 7 yard TD pass to Kevin Cone to make it 44-0. Wake finally scored when Rucker found a hole in the seam and caught a 36 yard catch and run for Wake Forest.

Next up for GT is Virginia 3-4 (1-3) in Atlanta. Nobody wants to overlook the Cav's as most are pointing to the big game in two weeks with ND.

#6 GT Runs By #16 NC 48-10

GT'S Mario Butler Makes an Interception that Would be returned for a TD

Chapel Hill NC- What a difference a year makes. Last year, GT was upset by North Carolina and was left out of the ACC title run. This year things have changed alittle. Josh Nesbitt threw for 3 touchdowns and #6 GT shookoff a rough first quarter to outscore NC 45-3 the final three quarters on route to a 48-10 win over the #16 Tarheels in North Carolina

" It was a huge win and impressive show of leadership" Said Millhimes when asked about his QB Josh Nesbitt. Nesbitt finished the game 20-29 for 242 yards and 3 TD's and no picks. He also had 25 yards rushing for the Yellowjackets who start the season 6-0.

Lucas Cox had another impressive game rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.

GT's defense came up big again forcing 3 turnovers and three sacks. Mario Bulter continues to play like a Hesiman winner. Butler had yet another interception return for a touchdown.

Carolina went on top early when GT took the opening kickoff and Cox fumled the ball at the 35. Robert Quinn picked up the loose ball for Carolina and returned it all the way for the TD and a 7-0 lead.

Cox would find the endzone in the second quarter with 10 seconds left witha 1 yard touchdown run to tie it at 10 going into halfitme.

The third quarter saw a fumble by North Carolina turn into points as Nesbitt hit Marcus Wright for a 9 yard touchdown pass and a 17-10 lead after three.

The Fourth quarter was a complete mess for the Traheels. Nesbitt hit Melton early in the quarter for a 17 yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 24-10. The next Tarheel possession showed promise until Mario Butler jumped in front of a sideline pass and did a spin move by the WR for a 27 yard interception return for a touchdown and the game blown wide open. Thomas would add a touchdown catch of 7 yards and backup QB Jason Shaw would run in a 1 yard touchdown run with 22 seconds left to give GT a huge win .

GT heads home to play Duke next, Tech has an interesting schedule ahead as they play Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson, and Virginia.

# 7 GT Rolls Up NC State 49-7

Atlanta GA- What a ride it has been for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. A week after knocking off Miami and shooting up into the #7 spot they impress yet again. Josh Nesbitt overshadowed the strong defensive performance by throwing for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns and also running for 133 and 2 scores as the Yellow Jackets made it look easy last night with a 49-7 win over winless NC State.

" These guys are fired up and want to really challenge for the National Title" says Coach Millhimes. The Yellow Jackets outgained the Wolfpack 544-147!

The GT defense was once again the story. The defense recorded 10 sacks and 2 interceptions. Both INT's were returned for scores which included Mario Bulter's CFB lead leading 6th of the year that went 88 yards back for a Touchdown in the first quarter. The other interception was a 23 yard return by DT Robert Hall who grabbed a tipped pass and ran with all his 310 lbs could go. Hall had 1 of the sacks as Peters and Barnes each recorded 3.

The main stat was third down conversions as NC State was just 2-15 and Tech was 5-10.

Nesbitt took the team down on the opeing kickoff and hit Thomas on a 27 yard pass to make it 7-0. Tech would then score on back to back INT returns to make it 21-0 after one and the route was on.

The Second quarter got off to a big start as GT faced a 3rd and 10 at there own 49. Nesbitt stood back to pass and pushed off a tackle. Then he took off up the middle of the field and was not touched as he went 51 yards for the touchdown and a 28-0 lead. GT would only allow a 91 yard kickoff return as the only touchdown for NC State.

The Third quarter saw Thomas get hit again for a 10 yard touchdown and Nesbitt added a 1 yard scamper before they sat the rest of the game.

" I know we can do this. Coach Millhimes has told me to lead by example and I plan on doing theat" says Nesbitt.

A big challenge nest week as GT goes to North Carolina to play the #12 Tarheels(3-0). North Carolina beat GT 24-21 last year.

#11 GT Upsets #2 Miami 38-35

#2 Miami falls to #11 GT 38-35.....#14 Michigan over Boise St 48-14......#12 FSU over Virginia 44-7.....#15 LSU crushes Tennessee 44-24

Atlanta, GA - Fans of GT wanted this game more than ever. Coach Millhimes wanted it just as bad." Its not often the #2 ranked team comes knocking at your door" said Millhimes. His team promised him a win and they delivered big time.

Deron Jasper had 2 crucial interceptions including a 31 yard return for a score and a game clinching Interception with 15 seconds left as Georgia Tech's option play and secondary was alittle to much for Miami in the 38-35 upset of the year for Georgia Tech.

More important, this keeps coach Millhimes job in a good bracket as many questioned if he could hang with FSU and Miami. Mario Butler also recorded his 5th interception of the year in the game.

As for Offense, the game was loaded with it. GT outgained Miami 442-349. Miami had 89 yards in the ground while GT had 212. Miami had 260 in the air while GT finished with 230. The main story was Turnovers as Miami had 4 interceptions in the game. Tech had 2 turnovers. Both interceptions thrown by Nesbitt.

Speaking of Nesbitt, he played a good game finishing 17-22 for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. He left in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left with a borken toe. He is not expected to miss any time.
The ground game was dominated by Larry Cox. Cox had 25 carries for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. His biggest was a broken tackle that gave him a 72 yard touchdown run. " This guy has big shoes to fill and he stepped up" said Millhimes comparing Cox to Dwyer.

Miami QB Jacory Harris was sacked 4 times in the game and threw 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions as the GT defense came alive in the second half.

With the game tied at 7 in the second quarter, GT took a 14-7 lead with a Larry Cox TD run. Miami would answer back with 14 unanswered points to take a 21-14 lead. The points came off a touchdown pass to answer the GT drive follwed by a 30 yard touchdown run by Miller after a Nesbitt interception. With 1:58 left in the first half and a 4th and 2 at the GT 49, coach Millhimes gambled. He faked a punt with a direct snap to Cox who ran it 4 yards for the first. They capped the drive off with a 30 yard touchdown pass from Nesbitt to Jones to tie the game at 21 to end the half.

Miami took the kickoff from there 35 and began a nice drive that was capped with a 3 yard TD run to give them a 28-21 lead. Nesbitt then once again threw an interception at the Miami 31 yard line. Then, the GT defenes came alive. Jasper picked off Harris on the very first play and returned it 31 yards for the score as GT tied it at 28 heading into the final quarter.

After a Butler interception of Harris, GT got a special run. Cox broke an outside tackle and took it 72 yards for a touchdown and a big 35-28 lead as the fans lost there minds. Miami took the ball right down the field and scored on a Harris to Miller 10 yard touchdown pass to tie it at 38. with 3:55 left. GT then went to work on clock control as the Option carried them down to the Miami 40. Thats where Nesbitt went down with a broken toe. The fans stood silent. Nesbitt gave Shaw a thumbs up as he came off the bench to take over. Shaw threw a 6 yard pass to Jones before letting Cox run the ball on 3 consecutive plays to setu up a 28 yard field goal. The kick was good and it left Miami with 48 seconds and no timeouts as they used them on the previous drive.

Miami used the feet of Jacory Harris as he ran the ball for 19 yards into GT terriroty with 17 seconds left. Then, Harris tried a pass to the left that was tipped by his WR and went right into the hands of Jasper who took it down the sideline for 14 yards before stepping out. The fans lost it as Shaw took a knee and the fans rushed the field. Big win for GT!

Georgia Tech Rolls By UCF

Atlanta GA- The #15 ranked Georgia Tech Yellowjackets are off and rolling. Tech once again dominated a team on defense while the offense was so-so. Tech had 6 sacks and caused 4 tunrovers including an interception return by Mario Butler to help #15 Yellow Jackets to a 42-14 win over UCF(0-1).
" Our Defense is a monster right now" said coach Millhimes. Butler returned a 3rd quarter pass 64 yards for a touchdown and his second one in as many weeks. Peters once again was a force at LE. He had 8 tackles and 4 sacks to lead the Yellow Jackets. Hall and Barnes also added Sacks.
Nesbitt finished 12-22 for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns and 3 picks. He also had 43 yards rushing. Larry Cox added 62 yards on 17 carries. Melton had 3 catches for 52 yards. Thomas was very quiet with 3 catches for 28 yards after a big week #1.
After a Nesbitt to Melton 21 touchdown pass made it 7-0 early, UCF came right back with a 20 yard touchdown pass to tie it at 7 with 19 seconds left. Then the fun started. Jones recieved the kickoff and went 95 yards for the touchdown and a 14-7 lead with 6 seconds left. UCF's Brad Walters grabbed the GT kickoff and went 98 yards for another return and a tie game at 14 after the first.
The GT defense would hold them scoreless the rest of the day. Jones and Thomas each caught touchdown passes in the second quarter to give Tech a 28-14 halftime lead. The opeing drive in the 3rd is where Butler snagged his pick and returned it for a 35-14 lead. After trading possessions, UCF's QB Calabrese lost a fumble and it was picked up by Osahon Tongo and returned 14 yards for the score and to break the game wide open.
Next up, Virginia Tech!
