
GT'S Mario Butler Makes The interception against Houston
Atlanta Ga- Fans in Atlanta can relax. Nesbitt's injury was just a strain and he will not miss any action. The action he did miss yesterday was nothing short of a blowout.
Jonathan Dwyer had 122 yards rushing and GT scored on both defense and special teams to destroy Houston 44-7.
"This win was earned. Our kids played there hearts out" said coach Millhimes. Josh Nesbitt left in the first quarter with a strained calf. He didnt return.
Backup Jaybo Shaw did a fine job filling in with 40 yards passing and a touchdown. He also had 36 yards rushing.
Cougars QB Case Keenum was off his game all day. He had 174 yards passing on 13-27. He also had 3 interceptions and no touchdowns.
Tech defensive captain Mario Butler had 2 interceptions including a 35 yard touchdown return that really put the game out of reach.
Tech was leading 3-0 after one quarter when Roddy Jones took it in from 5 yards out to make it 10-0 Tech. Houston responded with its own 5 yard touchdown run from Birck Bealt to put it back to a 3 point deficit. They would get no closer.
Jonathan Dwyer capped a 80 yard drive with a 6 yard touchdown run to make it 17-7. The very next Houston possession saw Kennum throw the first interception to Butler who took it back 35 yards for the xcore and a commanding 24-7 lead. GT would tack on 3 more to make it 27-7 at the half.
Things would only get worse for Houston. GT took the openng kickoff. Rashaad Reid recieved the ball at the 8 yard line and made a duck move out of a crowd and took the ball back 92 yards for the touchdown and a commanding 34-7 lead. Shaw would later add a 16 yard touchdown pass to make it 41-7. Butler picked off Keenum for the second time with 3 minutes left in the game.
Things will be a bit tougher next week. Clemson comes to town in hopes of giving Tech an early season loss. Stay tune next week for more coverage of the Yellow Jackets.
