Yellow Jackets Introduce New Coach

ATLANTA- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets made it official today signing new head coach Jeff Millhimes to 5 year deal. Contract amounts were not disclosed. The Yellow Jackets decided on Coach Millhimes after interviewing several candidates. Georgia Tech went 9-4 overall last year and 5-3 in confrence play. They took a pounding 38-3 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the hands of LSU. Paul Johnson was forced out of his coaching job due to personal issues off the field. Johnson assisted in helping the Yellow Jackets find a replacement.

Jeff Millhimes 31, career speaks for itself. He played 2 years under Joe Paterno as a backup Linebacker from 96-98. He then decided to transfer to Texas to be closer to his family. He moved to Houston and finished his final 2 years as a starting Tight End. After a knee injury forced him to cut short any NFL dreams, he went into coaching. He took a few years off working with ESPN. He returned in 2002 as Running Backs coach for Texas St. He spent two years there before getting an Offensive Coordinator job at Bayor. He tried to imply the "Option" style there but it failed. He left Baylor after 3 years. 2008 saw Millhimes take a job as an advisor to Paul Johnson's crew.

Millhimes has never been a head coach but many feel this sytem is perfect for him. Alumni and players are talking about a possible run at an ACC crown. Millhimes is alittle more optomistic. "This is my first year so I would be happy with a bowl game. Anything else would be an added Bonus" says Millhimes. We will continue to keep you posted on with a 1 on 1 interview with Millhimes in our next article.
